Queensland Tamil family calls for ‘freedom and peace’ after successful Federal Court bid

A Tamil family’s years long legal battle to return home to the Queensland town of Biloela has had success again, but their fight is not over yet.
Priya and Nades Murugappan and Australian-born daughters Kopika and Tharnicaa, five and three, have been in detention on Christmas Island since August 2019 when an urgent injunction stopped their deportation mid-flight.
Next month will mark three years since they were first detained and taken to Melbourne.
