Queensland records no new COVID-19 cases but virus found in wastewater – Brisbane Times

The chief health officer said there were three locations in Queensland where COVID-19 was found in wastewater and warned residents to get tested.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said COVID-positive sewage results were collected from January 12, 18 and 19 in Townsville, Nambour and Rockhampton.
A positive sewage result means that someone who has been infected or is currently infected, is shedding the virus, she said.
Infected people can shed viral fragments and that shedding can happen for several weeks to months after the person is no longer infectious.
