Queensland will close its borders to residents from Greater Sydney amid New South Wales’ deteriorating COVID situation.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Sunday followed the lead of her Victorian and South Australian counterparts by escalating border measures.

From 1am on Monday, Greater Sydney will be declared by the Queensland government a COVID hotspot.
