Queensland hotel quarantine worker diagnosed with ‘mutant’ strain of COVID-19

A cleaner who works in hotel quarantine in Queensland has tested positive to the UK strain of COVID-19, 7NEWS understands.
The woman, who works at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, developed symptoms on Wednesday before returning a positive result later that night.
It’s understood she has the mutant strain that is believed to be up to 70 per cent more contagious.
Her diagnosis is likely to dominate an emergency national cabinet meeting that has been convened on Friday.
