Queensland fishermen are rushing to catch enough spanner crab for Christmas after last week’s big swells delayed the start of the season.

Crews are hoping to catch around 10,000 individual crabs despite usually reeling in over 20,000.

“We could probably use more crab, we are chasing our tails.” – Fisherman, Jason Simpson.
