Queensland borders to reopen to New Zealand within 24 hours
Queensland’s borders will reopen to New Zealand travellers as of 1am on Saturday, December 12, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced.
The state leader confirmed the border change early on Friday morning on Nine’s Today and said she was given the all-clear by Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young on Thursday night.
“They [New Zealand] have reached the 28 days of zero community transmission, and Dr Young advised me yesterday that she was more than happy to allow New Zealanders to come into Queensland,” Ms Palaszczuk told Today.
“And we are hoping that eventually New Zealand will not have to do that hotel quarantine upon return, and then there would be free-flowing movement between the two.
