Queen Elizabeth is mourning the loss of her cousin who died aged 79.
Lady Elizabeth Shakerley, also known as Lady Elizabeth Anson, was not only the Queen’s cousin once removed, they were also close friends, having grown up together.
She was the daughter of Thomas Anson who was Viscount Anson and his wife Anne Bowes-Lyon who is the Queen’s niece. After her parent’s divorce her mother remarried and Lady Elizabeth was moved to Paris.
