QLD weather: BOM predicts giant hail and destructive winds as supercell storm heads for south-east

Queenslanders are being warned to brace themselves for an onslaught of wild weather as a supercell thunderstorm heads for the state’s south-east.
The Bureau of Meteorology says giant hailstones of up to 5cm could batter the region alongside wind gusts of up to 125kph.
Heavy to intense rainfall is also predicted.
The bureau says storms are likely to begin forming from the late morning, with the risk of severity increasing from the early afternoon and continue into the evening.
