Qld toddler had been granted exemption to cross border before he died

The border to Victoria has been closed since March, but Queensland residents are permitted to return home if they quarantine in a hotel for two weeks at their own expense, or are granted an exemption by the Chief Health Officer to isolate at home or in a hospital.
“Despite our best efforts we were unable to get him home to Queensland,” the family posted on Facebook.
“No response from Queensland was received in time. We understood the potential conditions were very distressing and would have separated our family during transport.
“We would then be forced to quarantine in the room he would have passed in as he was unlikely to survive 14 days quarantine.”
