QGAir, Brisbane based Helicopter, Rescue 500, was tasked by Queensland Fire Authorities late this afternoon to assist in evacuating three people trapped and surrounded by a fast moving fire front at Tabletop road Sarabah, in the Gold Coast Hintherland.
The three people and their two dogs and two turtles where airlifted to the safety of the Canungra Show Grounds.
The crew would like to praise the amazing work of the air attack helicopter fire bombers and fixed wing fire tankers working to control the fires in very challenging conditions. We were all faced with extremely strong gusting winds, choking smoke and hazardous high tension wires strung all over the area which were difficult to see. Thanks to the fire crews for accurate guidance to the stranded people’s location. #Rescue500 #QFRS #QGAir ????
