A double at Sunday’s Sha Tin meeting confirmed Zac Purton as Hong Kong’s premier jockey for season 2019/20.
Purton took an eight-win lead into the final Sha Tin fixture of the season, leaving it mathematically possible for rival Joao Moreira to steal the crown with a freakish performance.

The Australian jockey completed his double on the Tony Cruz-trained Mr Aldan in the Contentment Handicap.
“Every one is special in its own way but as I’ve said, this one felt like it was a tougher fight so it means a lot,” Purton told the South China Morning Post.
