More men had surgery in the private system.

In today’s Medical Journal of Australia, there’s a study of nearly 30,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer over six years to see how or whether their treatment varied when they had the more controversial stage of the disease – when it’s early and localised in the prostate gland.
That’s when watching and waiting can avoid unnecessary treatment. But it’s also where radiation therapy can be just as curative probably with fewer side effects such as incontinence and impotence.
