Proposed changes to encryption busting bid welcomed by sector – ABC News
Industry concerns about Australian agencies’ new powers to access encrypted communications have been quelled to a degree.
The use of encrypted communication platforms like WhatsApp and Signal is pretty common among most of us today, mainly because they offer a sense of security.
But the Federal Government and Intelligence Agencies argue those same apps pose a significant threat to Australia’s national security and it wants the power to access them.
It’s a controversial move and one that’s been the focus of a parliamentary inquiry held today….
