Prioritise safe cycling on high-risk Brisbane streets, council urged
“Roads like Adelaide Street, Edward Street and Ann Street in the CBD, as well as Dornoch Terrace nearby, are also some of riskiest.”
Adelaide Street recorded 18 injury crashes between 2014 and 2018, and Dornoch Terrace recorded 16 crashes in the same period, earning them a “high-risk” status in the report.
Boundary Street through West End and Gladstone Road through Highgate Hill were considered medium-high risk for crashes.
In Kangaroo Point, Shafston Avenue, Riverside Terrace and Main Street all recorded poor cycling infrastructure ratings, as did Montague Road in West End, and Wickham and Ann Streets in Fortitude Valley.
