‘Positive step’: Australia name squad for proposed tour of England – Sydney Morning Herald
Rising star Josh Philippe has been picked in an extended preliminary squad for Australia’s tour of England, in another indication the ODI and T20 series can be saved.
The uncertainty brought about by the coronavirus crisis prompted selectors to name a much larger squad than is normal, and gave a greater insight into their planning in the white-ball arena.
Philippe is one of three players named who has not represented Australia in any format, along with Tasmania quick Riley Meredith and Sydney Thunder seamer Daniel Sams.
A wicketkeeper batsman, Philippe, 23, is an explosive batsman and one of the brightest young prospects in the country.
