Positive coronavirus case detected on Aquagenie bulk carrier off Karratha flown to Perth

An international crew member on a vessel in waters off Karratha, on Western Australia’s northwest coast, has returned positive COVID-19 test result.

The man, in his 50s, is a crew member on board the Aquagenie bulk carrier, which is currently sitting in Commonwealth waters.
WA Premier Mark McGowan said the man became unwell last Thursday and underwent a rapid COVID-19 test which returned a positive result.
He was then brought to shore on the April 11 and taken to the Karratha Health Campus, where a rapid PCR test also returned a positive result.
