Police rule out criminal misconduct after investigation into Vatican payments to Australia

The Australian Federal Police says it has finished its investigation into payments made from the Vatican to Australia and has not found any criminal misconduct.

AUSTRAC, which investigates criminal abuse in financial systems in Australia, had earlier reported $2.3 billion had been transferred to Australia from the Vatican between 2014 and 2020.

It also said there had been 47,000 individual transfers of money.
