PM to visit as Queensland councillors fear fallout of quarantine proposal

State public servants were flown to Gladstone in central Queensland last week to meet with the operators of workers’ accommodation about 20 kilometres from the city’s CBD, which is being considered as a potential quarantine site.

Under the scenario being considered, planes would land at Rockhampton Airport before travellers would be driven 116 kilometres to the Homeground Villages camp at Calliope, about 25 kilometres from Gladstone.

Mr Morrison was expected to visit Gladstone this week before heading to Brisbane on Friday to host national cabinet.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister said he would not visit the proposed accommodation site but Mr Morrison said he would consider the plan at the meeting.
