Platypus found dead in illegal yabby trap in Queensland’s Broken River campsite

The death of a platypus found in a suspected illegal trap at a Queensland campground has sparked anger amongst locals.
The native mammal was found in a yabby trap in the Broken River at Eungella, a known platypus habitat near Mackay.
Mackay mayor Greg Williamson has labelled the incident “disappointing”.
“This is really, really disappointing to see people putting fish traps in Broken River,” he told 7NEWS.
