The life and legacy of the late Israeli Prime Minister and Nobel Prize peacemaker Yitzhak Rabin will be commemorated for the first time in Australia thanks to the financial support from philanthropist Eitan Neishlos.
As a figure highly synonymous for leadership and peace in Israel, the late Rabin will be rightly honoured in an Australian-based exhibition entitled ‘Unity’, which is set to launch on the November 4, 2020 in Sydney at the B’nai B’rith centre in Sydney.
The exhibition was sponsored by the Embassy of Israel in cooperation with the Rabin Centre, Tel Aviv, with significant support from Eitan Neishlos and Lee Levi.
“The opening of Unity on the anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin’s tragic assassination is a rare opportunity for visitors to learn of his courageous leadership and pursuit of democracy that will continue to influence the generations of today,” Neishlos said.
Rabin’s accomplished career as an innate leader took him from a military soldier to a Noble Peace Prize recipient. After decades defending his country with military force, Rabin later devoted his political life to pursuing peace negotiations to benefit the people of Israel.
In 1995 Rabin was tragically assassinated by a Jewish extremist at a mass peace rally in Tel Aviv, which he was attending in order to help muster support for the Israel-PLO accords.
He was a proclaimed ‘solider in the army of peace’.
US President Bill Clinton said that if Rabin lived, the world would be a different place and Rabin’s belief in negotiation over force delivered a golden era of Israeli/Arab relations during his second tenure as Prime Minister.
This important educational landmark exhibition, curated by Alexandra Hillman, will feature an exclusive collection of photography and recordings from the Rabin Centre Tel Aviv and will open on the anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin’s tragic assassination on November 4, 2020 and remain available for of six months.
Unity features rare photography from the Rabin centre in Tel Aviv, exclusive video content and excerpts of eulogies from world leaders including Bill Clinton, King Hussein and Hosni Mubarak.
The exhibition will take visitors through the extraordinary life of Yitzhak Rabin and his profound legacy of democracy, leadership and monumental global peace efforts.
“Unity aims to educate visitors about the history of Israel’s former prime minister and his influence on the nation as he evolved from war veteran to leading peace negotiator,” Hillman said.
“As visitors explore the exhibition, they will be encouraged to connect to the values that Rabin stood for such as democracy, leadership, unity and above all, peace.”
Unity will be open by appointment only and will also feature an accompanying programme of lectures and private tours.
Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Israel Ron Gerstenfeld said the exhibition will symbolise the special bond between Australia and Israel.
“Two countries, even though far away from each other both pursuing peace, supporting human rights and emphasising the sanctity of life, the important legacies of Rabin.”
As 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of his death and therefore a significant time in the lives of those who value his contributions to peace across countries. But for Eitan Neishlos, making time to fund a six-month exhibition based on one of Israel’s most positive influential figure is but a drop in the bucket when it comes to philanthropic efforts to support his community.

Eitan Neishlos is also an avid supporter and advisor to the Jewish National Fund working with JNFuture to fund raise amongst Jewish youth in Australia for their peers in Israel, including lone soldiers and young adults with autism.
Eitan Neishlos is also Deputy and executive on the board of Jewish Board of Deputies and the Executive, Vice President and Chair Elect of Courage to Care.
