Pfizer, Moderna-style vaccines could soon be made in Melbourne – The Age
The state government has announced it will support the development of an mRNA vaccine facility in Melbourne, investing $50 million towards establishing it.
It will be a collaborative project with Monash University and Melbourne University, along with the Doherty Institute and other research centres.
This is a very significant announcement, not just for Victoria but for Australia, he said. It will be the first in the Southern Hemisphere.
He said it would have been wise to establish mRNA capacity at the beginning of the pandemic because of the vaccine supply issues that may have arisen.
