Perth, Peel and South West emerge from COVID lockdown as restrictions lift across the state

Western Australians are returning to life as normal as residents re-emerge this morning after a five-day snap lockdown.
Key points:
- The five-day lockdown ended at 6:00pm last night
- Some restrictions, including mask use and person limits at indoor and outdoor gatherings, remain for the Perth and Peel regions
- There will be no lingering restrictions for the South West, except for limits on non-essential travel
The strict lockdown was imposed on over 80 per cent of the state’s population last Sunday after a hotel quarantine security guard tested positive for the virulent UK strain of coronavirus.
No new community cases were recorded for the week, meaning the lockdown could be lifted as hoped at 6:00pm on Friday evening.
