Perth bushfire news: DFES Commissioner warns more homes will likely be confirmed lost in coming days — as it happened

Containment ‘could be some way off’
DFES media liaison officer Mark Still says there is potential for wind changes through the night, and that containment of the Perth fires could be some way off.
“I would imagine not in the very near future,” he told ABC Radio Perth.
“It looks like we might have easterlies coming in, so the wind can change at any time, especially on the fire ground — some of these larger fires can produce their own weather patterns .
“Things can change rapidly at any time.
“Crews are still working really hard, and they’re still working around the rural-urban interface.
“The fire’s moving rapidly, it’s got such a huge perimeter now we’ve got lots of different areas we’re fighting those fire in.”
