Pay as you go: Brandon Smith’s bid to buy his freedom from Storm – Sydney Morning Herald
As the NRL ponders trade windows to regulate player movement, a radical proposal has been tabled for Brandon Smith to buy his way out of his Melbourne contract.

In an interesting twist, Melbourne had secretly made a play to bring Warriors lock Tohu Harris back to the club. However, Harris instead recommitted to the New Zealand franchise on a new deal that doesnt expire until the end of 2024.
At one point the Storm were prepared to release Smith to the Gold Coast if they got Tino Faasuamaleaui back in a player swap, but the Titans did not entertain the idea.
Grant is expected to be sidelined for at least the opening three weeks of the season with a knee…
