Ron Thomas has no doubts as to integrity of trainer on first day of bi-carb hearing

Racehorse owner and breeder Ron Thomas said he was shocked and surprised when he was informed his horse Strong Influence had returned an illegal reading for TCO2 (bi-carb) at Sandown last year.
Thomas, who has had a long career in AFL football including a stint as manager of the Sydney Swans, told the Victorian Racing Tribunal on Monday that the news had surprised him mainly because of his respect for trainer Peter Gelagotis.
