Our Maritime Border Operations officers share the oceans with all kinds of marine life and last week they had a whale of a time at Brisbane’s Moreton Bay.
While on patrol, our Island Class vessel, Great Keppel
Island, was approached by this pod of majestic Humpback whales. Humpback whales migrate around 5000 km on average – one of the longest migratory journeys of any mammal on Earth. This pod was likely heading south to the nutrient rich waters of Antarctica, and was a welcome sight for the crew of the Great Keppel Island.Footage courtesy of Channel 7.
