Opera to be more accessible to regional Queensland in alliance with country music for outback tour

An unlikely alliance celebrating both opera and country music will commence in the largest regional tour by Opera Queensland.

Are You Lonesome Tonight is the first production of its kind, celebrating 40 years of Opera Queensland and will run throughout May to June.
“So, we are looking at a 400-year-old artform, in Opera … and 100-year-old artform in country music — and looking at the similarities,” said the director of learning, regional, and community for Opera Queensland, Mark Taylor.
