It was a magnificent victory by India in trying circumstances; on and off the field. It was a great credit to Ajinkya Rahane and coach Ravi Shastri, who not only held the group together after Kohli left but also instilled self-belief.
Hundreds of millions in India were delirious with the result, and Indian broadcasters beside themselves with glee. Hopefully, there will be another 200m converts to Test cricket in that country, which can only be a good thing for a format that is always under pressure.
