Ponga was the star of the show at Hunter Stadium as his side won 26-22 thanks to his try in the 77th minute, after the Sharks had stolen a late lead to threaten an upset.
During the second half Ponga was seen on his haunches in back play, vomiting onto the grass.
OBrien revealed the superstar had caught a virus, as well as his housemate and teammate Connor Watson.
