On Sunday 7 March 2021, ABFC Cape Leveque, operating under the direction of Maritime Border Command, intercepted and boarded an Indonesian fishing vessel that was detected inside the Cartier Island Marine Park.
The boarding was conducted at the request of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority and Parks Australia.On boarding the vessel, a quantity of trepang and fresh fish was located. ABFC Cape Leveque subsequently conducted a legislative forfeiture, seizing the catch. ABFC Cape Leveque then escorted the vessel out of the area.
Maritime Border Command personnel continue to undertake COVID-19 safe boarding operations to ensure a safe and secure border.
