On Saturday 20 March 2021, Australian Border Force Cutter (ABFC) Cape Leveque, operating under the direction of Maritime Border Command (MBC), intercepted a foreign fishing vessel, approximately 70 nautical
miles east of Cartier Island, in Australia’s Exclusive Economic Zone.In collaboration with the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, the crew of ABFC Cape Leveque seized fishing equipment from the vessel in accordance with Australian fisheries law and the Maritime Powers Act.
COVID-19 safe protocols were adhered to during the interception and seizure.
