The Queensland Reds have confirmed James OConnor as interim captain just months after he asked the club for a release to play Super Rugby in New Zealand.
Queenslands regular skipper Liam Wright injured his ankle in the Reds trial loss to the Waratahs in Narrabri last week and has been ruled out for 10 weeks.
