The dual Group 1 winner, who ran an epic second in the All-Star Mile last Saturday, was found to have a “slight tear” in his near-fore tendon.
Connections made the “heartbreaking decision” on Thursday to retire the $2.34m-earning superstar.
Champion trainer Danny O’Brien lamented the loss, personally as a racing fan.
