NT Government won’t commit to new houses on homelands, despite pleas

More than 800 houses in some of Australia’s smallest, remotest Aboriginal communities have fallen into disrepair, according to a new report, which suggests a failure in government policy is partly to blame.

A sweeping review of the NT Government’s current Indigenous homelands policy was released publicly for the first time yesterday after months of pressure to do so.

It paints a damning picture of how the current homelands policy has been working.
