NT adds Byron Shire in northern NSW to its list of coronavirus hotspots
The Northern Territory government has expanded its list of coronavirus hotspots to include the Byron Shire in northern New South Wales as a result of the escalating COVID outbreak that forced Greater Brisbane into a three-day lockdown.
Key points:
- Seven areas in Queensland and NSW are now listed as hotspots for purposes of travel to the NT
- The NT government is now also requiring recent travellers from Byron Shire to self isolate for 14 days
- People who recently arrived from the Gold Coast are being asked to get tested if they have cold-like symptoms
Effective immediately, people arriving in the NT from the Byron region will now be required to enter mandatory, supervised quarantine at a cost of $2,500.
