NSW health authorities record zero new locally acquired coronavirus cases

NSW health authorities have recorded no new locally acquired coronavirus cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm last night, but one has been diagnosed in the hours since.

More than 27,000 tests were conducted across the state yesterday.

NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant said the new case was connected to the northern peninsula in the norther beaches, where the Avalon cluster began.

“Investigations as to the source of this gentleman’s infection are urgently under way,” Dr Chant said.

Dr Chant said the man was “quarantined for a period, then left quarantine and developed some symptoms [before] presenting for testing”.

“The critical issue for us at the moment is determining how this person acquired their infection,” she said.
