Sydney residents have hit back after a number of motorists were hit with fines while waiting for COVID-19 tests.
A record 44,000 Sydneysiders flocked to get tested on Tuesday as the state works frantically to stamp out the Northern Beaches outbreak ahead of Christmas Day, with many facing a six-hour wait as they queued at drive-through clinics.
A number of residents reported police patrolling COVID-19 queues on Saturday and handing out fines for those passing the time on their mobile phones.
