A 27-year-old man has been diagnosed with coronavirus in Newcastle.
The man was a close contact of a returned overseas traveller who was announced as a COVID-19 case last week, said Dr David Durrheim, the Hunter New England area public health controller.

The returned traveller had been in hotel quarantine but developed symptoms and tested positive after he was released.
He has been isolating at home since he was confirmed as a close contact so there is no ongoing risk of transmission, Durrheim said.
Health authorities are concerned, however, that more cases could pop up in the region as the result of Victorian travellers visiting on holidays.
The Casula hotel experience has shown us just how quickly this virus can spread, especially with a pub that is a key stop-off location for travellers, Durrheim said.
There are towns all over our district that are key stop-offs during travel.
All of us need to play out part to ensure we are not reintroducing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.
Anyone who develops mild respiratory symptoms or a fever needs to make sure they stay at home and they get tested.
