The RLPA launched a stinging rebuke of the NRLs numbers, arguing the data must be thoroughly tested and scrutinised before making any definitive statements concerning the playing environment. It said players had already provided feedback to the NRL this year about match demands.
Coaches and players have also debated whether efforts to increase the speed of the game this year had contributed to alarming injury rates.
