The Dragons made the bizarre call to push for a try when one of Corey Norman or Ben Hunt could have attempted the first field goal in extra time.
The last tackle play didnt work and on second tackle, the Sharks shifted the ball to Mawene Hiroti.
He made a break deep into the Sharks half before Townsend had another field goal charged down. But Cronulla regathered the ball.
