Noosa’s Main Beach closed and nippers cancelled amid clean-up after schoolies gathering

Noosa Council has closed part of Main Beach to clean up rubbish and broken glass left over from a schoolies gathering overnight.
In a statement on social media the council said surf lifesavers managed to open a small area for beach goers.
“Our staff are working hard to clear the rubbish and hope to have Main Beach open later,” the council said.
It thanked the workers who had spent their Sunday helping to “meticulously” clean the beach so it could be reopened.
Local Penni Jane said council worked quickly.
“I was there from about 6:30am and there was really no sign of mess from the event last night,” she said.
