AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has been forced to defend the decision to send hundreds of officials, families, media and players to Queensland, with Magpies president Eddie McGuire also weighing in on the situation.
Over 400 people have been forced to quarantine on the Gold Coast for two weeks as they join the AFLs high performance centres in Queensland, with a flight departing Melbourne on Tuesday.
However, it was federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg who attacked the Queensland governments decision, explaining the AFL had received special treatment despite the border being shut.
