No new cases as Qld begins human trial of COVID-19 vaccine – myGC.com.au

Queensland has recorded no new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
There are now just three active cases across the whole state, with one of those here on the Gold Coast.
It comes as the first human trials for a COVID-19 vaccine are set to get underway in Queensland tomorrow.
The “molecular clamp” candidate vaccine has been developed by scientists at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.
It’s understood 120 people have been chosen to receive the jab after more than 4000 people put their hand up to volunteer.
They will likely be given two shots and will be monitored for a year in order for scientists to assess the success rate.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told reporters on Sunday that she’s extremely proud of the University’s efforts, and said they’re expected to reveal further details surrounding the trial on Monday.
“We know UQ is at the forefront of some of the work they’re doing and they’ll be making further announcements tomorrow,” the Premier said.
The next stage of testing comes following successful animal trials in the Netherlands, which showed encouraging results.
