Authorities believe Pervolarakis may have contracted the virus in transit.
Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said he had been in South Africa for a day before his positive result and had travelled through the Middle East first.
Pervolarakis did not play in the Australian Open, but did compete in the ATP Cup as late as February 5 against Spains Pablo Carreno-Busta, having earlier played matches against Australias John Millman and doubles pair John Peers and Luke Saville.
