Nigerian farmers slaughtered, beheaded in retaliation after villagers stand up to gunman

Dozens of farmers have been killed — including 30 men who were reportedly beheaded — in an attack by suspected Islamist militants in north-east Nigeria.

“At least 110 civilians were ruthlessly killed and many others were wounded in this attack,” UN humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria Edward Kallon said in a statement.
“The incident is the most violent direct attack against innocent civilians this year.
“I call for the perpetrators of this heinous and senseless act to be brought to justice.”
