Rupert Murdochs News Corp will purchase the books & media segment of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for $US349 million ($457 million), combining it with its HarperCollins business.
In the latest news of consolidation in the literary world, News Corp announced the deal on Monday (US time), saying it will significantly expand the HarperCollins backlist, adding more than 7000 titles including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Curious George, The Polar Express, Animal Farm and The Little Prince.
