New Zealand’s COVID-19 community transmission case likely came from returned traveller in hotel

New Zealand authorities have confirmed a woman who tested positive for COVID-19 while in the community likely contracted it from another returned traveller on the same floor as her room in her quarantine hotel.

The 56-year-old had recently returned from Europe and had quarantined at Auckland’s Pullman Hotel, spending 14 days in quarantine and twice testing negative before returning home on January 13.

She later developed symptoms and tested positive.
