MARTINSRIED, Germany Leukemia is a blood cancer that prevents the body from fighting infection. The stem cells of the disease usually hide in a patients bone marrow. However, one study found that a new treatment can remove these cells from their protective tumors. Researchers in Germany say therapy that targets a specific protein in the blood could offer new hope for treating leukemia.
