Danny Boyle, the filmmaker behind Slumdog Millionaire and the London 2012 opening ceremony, is to direct a television drama about the Sex Pistols.
The series, Pistol, is based on the memoir of the punk bands guitarist Steve Jones.
It is understood to have the blessing of the bands other surviving members, including the frontman John Lydon, and is likely to feature their iconoclastic anthems Anarchy in the UK and God Save the Queen.
