NBL season opener to take place in warehouse as schedule adjusted for COVID-19 state border closures
With its launch already significantly delayed, the NBL has been forced to again adjust its fixtures for the upcoming season in light of state border closures.
Key points:
- The Cairns Taipans will now play the Illawarra Hawks in the NBL season opener on January 15 after rescheduling due to border closures
- The Taipans will host the season opener in their new pop-up facility inside an modified former Bunnings Warehouse
- The NBL says it expects to complete the season with 14 home games per team around June
While the Cairns Convention Centre is being renovated, the Illawarra Hawks will play the season opener against the Taipans on January 15 at the Cairns team’s new pop-up home court inside a specially modified former Bunnings Warehouse.
